  • A142 / Lancaster Way roundabout consultation

    Capacity improvements are currently underway to the A10/BP roundabout, required as part of the approved Lancaster Way Business Park expansion planning application.

    This is a vital development to support economic growth within East Cambridgeshire and expected to generate 2,500+ jobs, 75% will be from the local area. Cambridgeshire County Council agreed to carry out a feasibility study encompassing the A10, BP and Lancaster Way roundabouts to assess the current congestion issues limiting future growth which was completed in October 2018.

    This study identified that capacity improvements at the Lancaster Way roundabout would also unlock further benefits of the measures now being constructed at the BP roundabout. The County Council has started to look at what improvements could be made to the Lancaster Way roundabout and the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority and East Cambridgeshire District Council have agreed to provide funding.

    The public have the chance to offer comments for consideration on the proposed design.

    This consultation is to share the details with residents and receive feedback. We may share your information with our partners in this consultation (East Cambridgeshire District Council and Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority) and with the council analysis team.

    You do not have to give us any personal information. We will not publish any personal details you do give us, but may publish our response, and include it in public reports, with personal details removed. Personal data will be held securely, in accordance with data protection legislation. We will only store it for 12 months after the consultation results have been analysed and the consultation report published.

  • A10 Ely to Cambridge

    The Ely to Cambridge Transport Study is a wide-ranging multi-modal study which has made recommendations on the transport schemes needed to accommodate the major development planned at a new town north of Waterbeach, Cambridge Northern Fringe East (CNFE) and the Cambridge Science Park (CSP). The study has three strands:
    - Strand 1 looks at the overall transport requirements on the corridor
    - Strand 2 looks at the specific requirements for growth at Waterbeach
    - Strand 3 looks at the specific requirements for growth at CNFE/CSP


    The commission has delivered:
    - An options study and Strategic Outline Business Case for the overall package of
    interventions on the Ely to Cambridge corridor;
    - A transport study that identifies the infrastructure package and phasing of that
    package to provide for the transport demand of the development of a new town north
    of Waterbeach,
    - A transport study supported by modelling which provides evidence for the level of
    development which could be supported in the CNFE/CSP area and its phasing, in transport terms.


    The scope of the study was drawn up to incorporate three separate, but interlinked issues; namely the need for a Strategic Planning Document or Area Action Plan for both Waterbeach New Town and the CNFE, hence providing a Transport Evidence Base for Plan Making as required by National Planning Practice Guidance. Early thinking was also required on the requirements of the whole corridor to inform Tranches 2 and 3 of delivering the Greater Cambridge City Deal.


    The study is separate to, but links with the A10 Ely to King’s Lynn Study which was reported to the Committee in September and to the M11-A47 Extension Study which has been commissioned by the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority and is due to report in summer 2018.

  • Update on plans for Burwell Lode bridge?

    This isn't quite our area, I suspect, but I'm wondering if anyone in the group knows what's happening with the once-proposed new bridge at Burwell Lode? Back in 2010, the Campaign newsletter reported that, "The National Trust anticipates being able to build this 'in the next couple of years'"; from what I can find elsewhere on the web, new ramps were built near/to the existing (horrible) bridge in 2012-13.

    Not an urgent enquiry - it's just the route to Ely via Reach is one I do fairly often with friends with small children/babies in trailers, and at the moment we have to detour via Bottisham to avoid it, so I wondered if the new bridge was still on the cards at all.
