  • Eastern Hertfordshire Area Growth and Transport Plan

    Created by JonC // 2 threads

    The Eastern Growth & Transport Plan (EGTP) is a new transport strategy to help direct and plan transport improvements and investment in Bishop’s Stortford and Sawbridgeworth and surrounding areas.

    This area faces significant levels of proposed new housing and employment development, with added pressure of new homes and jobs are also proposed in surrounding areas including Cambridgeshire, North Essex and the rest of Hertfordshire.

    Important transport links in this area include the M11, A120, A1184, A414, A1250, B1383 and B1004 roads, the West Anglia Main Line railway line, the National Cycle Routes 11 and 16 and a range of local and longer distance bus and coach services.

    To help ensure the transport network continues to work safely and efficiently, the GTP identifies packages of interventions, that could address current and future traffic congestion issues such as noise and poor air quality. Interventions can be small or large, and could be introduced now or in the future, depending on how complex they are and if enough funding is available.

  • Transport Restart Group

    Created by Rosamund Humphrey (Admin Officer) // 1 thread

    The government said that it expects Combined Authorities to lead the restart of the transport system following the Covid lockdown. The Transport Restart Group is chaired by the Combined Authority (its leads are James Palmer and Paul Raynes) and brings together the two highways authorities, police and public health colleagues, the two main city councils, a representative bus operator, Network Rail, Highways England, and the Department for Transport. It has met weekly since 1 June.

    The group has three main tasks:

    (a) ensuring the public transport restarts to as near 100% of pre-Covid network as possible;

    (b) ensuring a package of active travel measures is implemented to mitigate potential increases in private car use;

    (c) monitoring data in relation to the impact of Covid – 19 on transport and considering what further measures might be needed to maintain the transport recovery.

  • Mapping out Cycling Infrastructure Proposals for Hammersmith and Fulham

    Created by Casey // 1 thread

    In order to create a safe cycling and active transport environment we need to point out what we need, where.

    In line with the policy announcement from Grant Shapps MP changes should be urgent and immediate so this is a space to plan, map them out and look at detail. We have the benefit of this being a forum where we have access to a lot of expertise in technical detail so feel free to suggest, upload photos, discuss, wish.

  • Transport Strategy for East Cambridgeshire

    Created by Roxanne (Cycling Campaign Officer) // 1 thread

    What is the Draft Transport Strategy for East Cambridgeshire?

    We have drafted a transport strategy to tackle the current and future transport pressures in and around the district, and to help support growth in East Cambridgeshire. The purpose of this strategy is to:

    Provide a detailed policy framework and Action Plan of potential transport improvements for the area, addressing current problems and consistent with the policies of the third Cambridgeshire Local Transport Plan 2011-2031 (LTP3).
    Support the East Cambridgeshire Local Plan, and take account of the committed and predicted levels of growth, detailing the transport infrastructure and services necessary to deliver this growth.

    The strategy contains details of the schemes proposed in the short and medium term as well as the longer term schemes as proposed in the Long Term Transport Strategy.

    We want the views of anyone who lives, works, visits or travels through East Cambridgeshire in order to improve this draft transport strategy. Let us know your views on the strategy objectives, policies and the action plan of proposed transport improvements for the area by answering the questionnaire before the 8th April 2016.

    View the TSEC consultation leaflet (pdf, 1MB) for a summary of the information we are consulting on and answer the questionnaire. Alternatively, hard copies of the consultation leaflet and questionnaire are available at libraries and doctors surgeries around East Cambridgeshire or by request via the contact details below.

    Come to talk to us and fill in a questionnaire at one of the public exhibitions below:
