Access to Impington Village College has not been looked at in any detail since the college opened in 1939. What issues are there for cycling to the college? What opportunities are there to make improvements?
There is a proposal to build 35 new homes on Sandy Lane (described by the developers as 26 'family houses' and 9 'affordable homes').
The project has a website: https://yoursay.online/sandy-lane#about-the-project
At 6pm today (23rd February 2021) there will be webinar about the development (hosted by the developers).
In order to create a safe cycling and active transport environment we need to point out what we need, where.
In line with the policy announcement from Grant Shapps MP changes should be urgent and immediate so this is a space to plan, map them out and look at detail. We have the benefit of this being a forum where we have access to a lot of expertise in technical detail so feel free to suggest, upload photos, discuss, wish.

Southwark Council are consulting on whether traffic speeds and volumes are too high on Melbourne Grove.
According to police figures, the average speed is >25mph (it is a 20mph zone).
Submit individual feedback, and/or reply to Southwark Cyclists to shape the group response.

Single lane 2-way lane requiring vehicles to give way to other vehicles already on the lane travelling in the opposite direction. This is rarely respected by car drivers who will drive straight towards cyclists. Cycle symbols on the carriageway black-top will raise driver awareness that this lane is part of a designated cycle route.
Proposal from Sainsbury's to build a new petrol filling station at their Fallowfield store, which is accessed from Wilmslow Road at a junction shared with Fallowfield Loop cycle traffic.

Recently a cyclist was knocked off here while trying to turn right out of Constantine Road . The car driver took the corner without obeying the white line markers. Needs hard infrastructure changes .

According to the Evening Star a developer has purchased the wine rack.
The proposal involves calling for a multi storey car park although the developer also acknowledges the very high traffic volumes on the Star Lane gyratory.
To make it more appealing for people to access the Waterfront from the town centre he proposes an elevated pedestrian walkway.

3-floors block 15 flats hidden rear of industrial building behind Aldi.
Nominally car-free (ie provides no on-site car parking beyond one space for disabled) but the flimsy Transport Assessment (Conclusions 5.5) says "....surveys on existing on-street parking on local routes have identified some capacity for additional parking demand generated by the development, should residents at the development choose to own a vehicle." This acts against the (so far undelivered) scheme to eliminate car parking on Histon Road and instal cycle lanes. There is space in front of the industrial shed, and "parking" appears there on the site plan.
This seems to be a re-application, developer suggests the only issue left to be resolved is (personal) security on the remote access route. However the police ALO doesn't like it.
Car-free: interesting, but this instance looks very dodgy.
The TA instances other Cambridge "car-free" flat developments - do they really work?

Quote: para 2.77 "The Government supports the motorist and wants to see adequate parking provision for them...."
Question 2.16: Do you agree that parking policy should be strengthened to tackle on-street parking problems by restricting powers to set maximum parking standards?
Not a simple issue, but probably worth CCyC's commenting.

When traffic backs up on Spring Road from the Grove Lane lights motor vehicles cut through via Bartholomew Street, Alexandra Rd, Warwick and Lancaster Roads to Palmerston and then onto St Helens.
They travel fast and a group of five or more motor vehicle drivers copying each other is not unusual, at peak times.
To protect the residents of these narrow streets, filtered permeability would seem to be the only answer.
Bus/cycle lane lights not sensing cyclists.

The road between Hogg End Lane and Three Cherry Trees Lane is closed to all traffic. It should be opened to cyclists to provide a convenient route to the Maylands industrial estate and NE Hemel from the Redbourn Road.

There are several pedestrian refuges along the road particularly at the western end of the road. The refuges cause a pinch point for cyclists. The road marking confuse priorities between those using the on road cycle path and other traffic.

The UHCW NHS Trust has applied for planning permission for a new access roads and multistorey car parks, under a plan drawn up by leading global engineering firm Arup.
Please ask them to go back to the drawing board and come up with something better.
The planning application details are here:
http://planning.coventry.gov.uk/portal/servlets/ApplicationSearchServlet?PKID=744613
Please state that you OBJECT to the current proposals as they don't give any consideration to encouraging more cycling (or walking).
The trust are open to discussion via twitter (@NHSUHCW), but the council need to be asked to bring this matter to the committee (currently it is just classed as deferred, which means officers decide themselves).

Motorised vehicles currently use the rat run through Milner Street to avoid the fraffic lights at Grove Lane/ St Helens St.
This is part of NCN 41 , any extra traffic passing through here detracts from the cycling experience and is negative for residents.
Cyclist comments are needed now !

Total re-design of this important junction.
Very complicated junction with 4 routes entering/leaving .
Covers very large area.
Proposal is for one large oval to replace existing double roundabout.
The junction has an existing reported and unreported high level of vehicle/cyclist crash.
An ideal opportunity for Ipswich to have a radical design which protects the more vulnerable road users ?
Please post your opinion here.

How St is Walthamstow's artery. It carries way too much motor traffic for its size. Many bus routes run through it. Recent improvement plans are looking ok, but are as usual a mixed bag.

Monument Road is a serious barrier to cyclists using this designated cycle route. There is a pedestrian crossing, just down Monument Road, but the pavements are too narrow for shared use.
There needs to be a crossing to enable cyclists to move easily along the cycle route.
