Absolutely disgraceful deposit of mud by tractor drivers hauling harvested beets on Fen Lane (the back way to the north of Swaffham Bulbeck which many of us use to bypass the unpleasant B1102 through the village). In my opinion it is not currently safely passable on a bike. I was on foot, in wellingtons, and found it hard to stay upright. The number of tractors and the aggressive speed at which they are being driven is an additional hazard. Until this is cleared up, the options are the main road through the village, or (somewhat longer but much less busy), divert via High Street, Quarry Lane and Heath Road back on to the B1102 and the Greenway to Swaffham Prior north of the village.

Announcement from Cam Conservancy:

Tree management Programme 2023/24 A recent tree survey has identified the necessity for pruning and in some cases felling dangerous trees to ensure the safety of those using the Halingway.A ‘TTRO’ Temporary Traffic Regulation Order has been approved to temporarily close sections of the Halingway/towpath (Chesterton to Clayhithe) between 1 November until 31 March 2024.
The Conservancy appreciates this may cause some temporary inconvenience, however these works are necessary and have been planned to ensure the safety of those who use the Halingway and the staff carrying out the works.

Chilham station is signposted from National Cycle Route 18 via Pickelden Lane. However, the link towards NCR18 isn't signed from Chilham station and the portion along the A28 corridor isn't signed as a cycle route. The A28 is too busy for normal cycling. The path on the south side between Pickelden Lane and Chilham station should be made into shared use.
The incident has been reported to Kent Police as criminal damage, Crime Ref: 46/139801/23.

A tree on the side of East side of Whiteladies road (next to HSBC) has a notice stating that the tree will be removed and replanted. The tree is on the very wide pavement right next to the road, and the road is not wide enough for vehicles and cyclists: a pinch point.
There is clearly enough space on Whiteladies road for a segregated cycle lane. It is a popular route used often by heavy traffic. With enough shifting of road lanes there's even enough room for an uphill cycle lane.
Replanting the tree away from the road would remove one small obstacle and show evidence that BCC is looking towards improving cycling in the long run.

"not at all nice - cycle "lane" too narrow, not visible in dark, potholed, conflict with turning traffic etc. better to have only 1 lane motors and thus proper [cycle] lane??? (still left turn problem)"

The "cyclist priority route" on NCN1, Felixstowe Road obviously isn't that subjectively safe as I've seen someone cycling on the pavement southbound rather than on the road.

no cyclist ever uses this junction as the engineers intended. It doesn't function well and is dangerous. Needs reviewing.
Well lane has been blocked to through motor traffic creating a nice quietway for walking and cycling.
However where it meets Percival Road a dropped kerb has not been installed meaning that cycles, pushchairs and wheelchairs have to bump down to cross Percival.
A couple of dropped kerbs and perhaps a parking restriction would really open this up as a nice cycle quietway.
Bike users can turn right and cycle contra flow using a very narrow on road cycle path. Motorised traffic cannot do this, Park Road is one way to motorised traffic. Traveling down Queens Road there is no signage to suggest that bike users can turn right. Once into Park
Road there is awkward raised 'island' to manoeuvre around. Suggest signage saying right turn for bikes only and reconsider design of Island to make it less of an obstacle.

Access to and return journey from the Crematorium is a real challenge for the cyclist. Indeed, chances are you may end up in it if you try to ride your bike there.
Here we have a essential public service which is accessible by car only. Is this acceptable ?
These issues arise also if a convoy of bicycles was to accompany a coffin.
What is to be done?

Currently there is no entry from Creffield Road to Maldon Road, this means cyclists have to divert via Inglis Road which is a poor junction for cyclists. A request has been submitted for changes to the juction to let cyclists enter Maldon Road from Creffield Road. It's understood that Cllr Sue Lissimore has subimtted this to the Local Highways Panel (LHP).

Tower Hamlets Council is committed to making the borough a safer place for all road users by delivering a range of street improvements in the area; intending to benefit pedestrians, cyclists, drivers and public transport users alike.
Residents of Beaumont Square and the surrounding area raised concerns about rat-running and the problems it causes in local streets. You may remember that the Council previously consulted residents on traffic management proposals to reduce traffic speed in the area; many of which were strongly supported and have now been implemented. A number of additional ideas were also put forward by residents which have now been considered and we would appreciate your opinion on whether they should be introduced.
One of the problems is the level of traffic trying to avoid the traffic lights at the A11 Mile End Road/White Horse Lane junction. Drivers cut through either Beaumont Square or Eastbury Terrace through to Beaumont Grove to join A11 Mile End Road junction causing safety concerns, particularly for the nursery and nuisance to local properties. In addition, Beaumont Grove suffers problems relating to parking for surrounding shops and takeaways.
Footpath 32 is to be converted to be a bridleway. The footpath runs at the edge of a field parallel to the Wheathampstead road from the Hertswood Forest car park entrance to Nomansland. It will have a garpack surface for cycling/walking and a larger strip of grass for horse riding.
Funding comes largely from a Paths For Communities grant with other contributions from local sources.

A shared-used area runs parallel to Park End Street across Frideswide Square, fronting the Saïd Business School. This offers an alternative approach to the station, and allows cyclists approaching from the city centre to avoid manoeuvres across two roundabouts.
There is however a lack of a properly aligned, clearly marked refuge between the two streams of traffic on Hythe Bridge Street at the point where cyclists would seek to cross into this shared space.

Manchester City Council Development strategy for the Ancoats and New Islington Areas. Includes development and urban design principles, and will be a "material consideration" in determinng planning applications.
A recent announcement about the funding of 6000 new residential units by ADUG in this part of Manchester increases the need to ensure that cycling is given due prominence in this strategy.

The Council has successfully secured funding from Transport for London (TfL) to improve safety for all road users along the whole length of Billet Road. In the last 5 years a total of 62 accidents which involved injuries and fatalities were recorded making this a particular unsafe area within the Borough. The scheme aims to reduce accidents along the road whilst improving the overall safety for all road users.
In September and October 2015, we sent a survey to local people asking them to identify problems along the road and to tell us what they would like to see to help improve road safety. The results of the survey showed that people were most concerned about crossing the road, getting around the area and not feeling safe when travelling along the road.
The top improvements people would like to see were; slower traffic, safer crossing points, protected cycle lanes and better pavements.
We also asked Emergency Services about the issues they faced and what they would like to see to help improve road safety.
Proposals
Based on the results of the survey and the feedback from Emergency Services we have
developed a set of proposals that aim to make improvements for all road users:
• Bus stop improvements to provide better access for passengers including disabled users.
• Improve and raise the existing zebra and signal crossings.
• A new raised zebra crossing on Billet Road near Cecil Road.
• 20mph speed limit along Billet Road.
• Better and energy efficient street lighting.
• Tree planting and footway resurfacing along the road.
• A new raised road table at Billet Road’s junction with Guildway to reduce traffic speed.
• Two-way, fully segregated east and west cycle track.
• New ‘floating’ style bus stop to improve safety for cyclists and bus passengers.
• Raised areas at junctions that prioritise pedestrians and slow traffic down.
• De-cluterring of street furniture such as removing redundant posts and signs along Billet Road and side road entrances.
• Parking bays relocated at certain unsafe locations along the road to be converted to
segregated cycle track. New parking bays will be provided nearby.
• Various waiting and loading restriction at locations of concern to improve road safety
and ensure smooth flow of traffic.
• Anti-skid surface to help prevent vehicles from skidding.
Please note there are also a number of locations on the road where future improvements works will be happening outside of this scheme. These are highlighted as ‘future improvement works’ on the plan.

The UHCW NHS Trust has applied for planning permission for a new access roads and multistorey car parks, under a plan drawn up by leading global engineering firm Arup.
Please ask them to go back to the drawing board and come up with something better.
The planning application details are here:
http://planning.coventry.gov.uk/portal/servlets/ApplicationSearchServlet?PKID=744613
Please state that you OBJECT to the current proposals as they don't give any consideration to encouraging more cycling (or walking).
The trust are open to discussion via twitter (@NHSUHCW), but the council need to be asked to bring this matter to the committee (currently it is just classed as deferred, which means officers decide themselves).

The A92 here has some very fast traffic. Considering this is the flagship National Cycle Route 1, and there is already a cycle path of part of the way between these 2 junctions. It would be much better if this cycle path was continued to the next junction, with some crossing aid in the form of traffic lights, bridge or tunnel. This would open this part of the route to a wider range of participants, as it would be significantly safer.

Cyclists benefit from an almost continuous cycle or bus lane along the A660 from the city centre. This route is much used by students cycling between central university campuses and accommodation in north-west Leeds.
After the central traffic lights in Headingley, the cycle lane ends and the road narrows. Although the road later widens out to two lanes, there is a stretch (marked on the map) where cyclists have insufficient space on what is a busy radial road.
There are two possible solutions here. The first would be to widen the north-west bound lane to allow a standard width cycle lane to be marked out. The second option would be to add a phase into the traffic light sequence that grants cyclists a ~10 second head start to clear this narrow stretch. This solution could involve detectors in the cycle lane upstream of the lights to avoid its unnecessary activation. It would also allow cyclists to position themselves better for the next junction, where traffic is split into two lanes.
