Wandsworth Council have developed outline plans for a stepped (or wand separated) two-way track on the south side of Burntwood Lane.  The section from Beechcroft Road to Trinity Road is not included in the scheme.  The proposed track is mostly 3m wide with a significant section at 2.5 m to enable car parking tp be retained on the other side of the road. The proposals include signalising the junction at Beechcroft Road to provide a phase for north-west bound cyclists on the track to move over to the correct side of the road. Other elements in the scheme include the removal of the two mini-roundabouts and the provision of new pedestrian crossings, one  Toucan and one Zebra.  The proposals are due to be be discussed at at the council transport committee on Tuesday 22nd September.  No specific funds have been identified for the scheme, so this is probably the start of quite a long design and build process.

The concept designs have been drawn up by Project Centre and look as if they may be the best possible solution given the Council's implicit brief not to reduce motor traffic volume or composition and to minimise loss of car parking.  The report they have produced gives a very clear assessment of the constraints.

Detailed reports and plans are in the papers which are item 8  -  downloadable using the weblink below.
