A bill is being put forward to sentence any cyclist convicted of dangerous cycling to a 14 year prison term.

Shared Space:

8.11 While we consider CIHT and DPTAC’s recommendations and how to take them
forward, we are requesting that local authorities pause any shared space schemes
incorporating a level surface they are considering, and which are at the design stage.
We are also temporarily suspending Local Transport Note 1/11. This pause will allow
us to carry out research and produce updated guidance.

Objectives regarding Cycling:

• Update Local Transport Note 2/08, which sets out the Department’s guidance to
local authorities on designing safe and inclusive infrastructure for cyclists, to take
account of developments in cycling infrastructure since its publication in 2008 and
the responses to the draft AAP consultation and publish a revised version by early
2019;
• By 2020, explore the feasibility of amending legislation to recognise the use of
cycles as a mobility aid71 in order to increase the number of disabled people
cycling.

CCAG2 off-road scheme in Cheadle and Cheadle Hulme, Stockport.

Upgrade and extension of the existing Ladybrook Valley footpath from Queens Road to Hall Road. The scheme is a maintenance and enhancement project which aims to provide a permanent cycle path that accords with modern design standards.

7. Ashton-on-Mersey to Urmston – improved cycle link.
The proposal is to improve an existing route. Third party land agreement required which is proving problematical. The route passes over 2 separate areas of land owned by 2 parties. Works on sections of land controlled by Trafford are anticipated to start on site early in the New Year.

Proposed scheme by Trafford MBC to reduce collisions at this dangerous roundabout.
The scheme is not a Road Safety scheme, but rather a scheme to reduce collisions at this accident blackspot.

Announced in 2015 as part of CCAG2. Manchester City Council, working in partnership with Transport for Greater Manchester and Salford City Council, is developing a City Centre Cycling Infrastructure Plan (CCCIP). The plan will:-
Provide a strategy to guide future investment
Provide a pipeline of cycling schemes
Prioritise cycling and transport infrastructure more effectively
Assist with bidding for future funding for investment in the city centre cycle network

The University of Manchester has unveiled plans to turn Brunswick Street into a park—to be named Brunswick Park... the road will be blocked off to traffic and it will be replaced with an area of green public realm.
The park will sit in the heart of campus between the Simon and Williamson buildings. The area will be extensively landscaped and will feature pedestrian paths, cycle lanes, wildflower areas, trees, and benches.
The entire street will be converted and plans show a large circular area in outside the Zochonis, Roscoe, and Simon buildings, which leads to the Oxford Road along a wide paved area.
“Improved pathways” will be provided between Oxford Road and Upper Brook Street for pedestrians and cyclists.
